🎥 Video Tutorial: Beaded Blossoms Motif

Learn how to crochet this beginner-friendly beaded motif using my signature bead-as-you-go method. You’ll add beads directly as you work, creating a smooth and enjoyable process from start to finish, with no pre-stringing required.

Once complete, turn these eye-catching blossoms into beautiful accent pieces for handbags, pillows, shawls, garlands, appliqués, and home décor. Change the yarn fiber, color palette, or bead shape to create blossoms that reflect the seasons, holidays, or special events.

The motif is worked in the round using basic crochet stitches and simple stitch variations, making it approachable for confident beginners while still engaging for experienced crocheters. The combination of sparkling beads and textured stitches creates depth, dimension, and a stunning floral effect that truly stands out.

Why I Designed Beaded Blossoms

When I was a little girl learning crochet, I made a ton of granny squares and other crochet motifs. Over the years, I used them for blankets, clothing, placemats, and at one point, I even made a rug out of one huge granny square.

Somewhere along the way, though, I think I burned out on them. I lost the desire to crochet motifs and stopped rather abruptly.

Recently, I am not sure what sparked it, but I began remembering how fun and convenient crocheting motifs really are. There is something satisfying about finishing a small piece in one sitting. They are portable, manageable, and useful for a variety of projects.

I knew if I was going to fall back in love with motifs, I wanted to make one that felt fresh and inspiring to me. I wanted texture. I wanted dimension. And of course, I wanted beads.

I set out to design a motif that blended the classic comfort of crochet with lively color, sparkling bead accents, and unique stitch detail. I incorporated one of my absolute fave stitches, the Herringbone Half Double Crochet, to add texture and depth. The result is a lovely floral motif that can be customized to reflect your mood and style, beautiful on its own and even more striking when joined with others.
